Alberta Scholarship Programs

Louise McKinney Post-Secondary Scholarships

Sponsored by: Established by Alberta Scholarship Programs in honour of Louise McKinney.

Purpose: To recognize exceptional academic achievement and encourage outstanding students to continue their studies at the post-secondary level.

Value: $2,500

Eligibility: Applicants must be residents of Alberta and plan to enroll at a university, college or technical institute, in the second or subsequent year of full-time study. Alberta students studying outside the province because their program of study is not offered in Alberta will be considered for a scholarship if their class standing is in the top two percent of their program.

Selection: Students studying in-province are nominated by the Student Awards Office at participating Alberta post-secondary institutions and click here for a list of eligible post-secondary institutions in Alberta.   It is recommended that students contact the Awards Office to determine their eligibility, i.e. the GPA and the number of credits required - normally, courses taken for credit or taken at an institution other than the nominating institution are not considered.

Application: If studying in Alberta contact the Student Awards Office at your school. If studying outside of Alberta application forms are available from Alberta Scholarship Programs.

In-Province Study: Nominations are submitted by the Student Awards Office.
Out-of-Province Study: Apply at least eight weeks before the start of the second or subsequent year of study.

Disbursement: The award will be disbursed in November after Alberta Scholarship Programs confirms full-time enrollment in post-secondary studies.

Audience: Undergraduate Students
