Other Information to Have Ready
Make sure you have the following information on hand before you start the application.
Alberta Student Number (ASN)
You must provide your ASN in order to complete your application. If you do not know your ASN or if you have moved to Alberta from another province or country, then use the Learner Registry to find your ASN or to have an ASN assigned.
Dependent Children Information
You need to provide the date of birth of your dependent children. Dependent children are those children who are living with you and for whom you and/or your spouse/partner are legally responsible.
Parent (Step-Parent/Sponsor) Information
If you are single and have not been out of high school for four (4) years or have not been available for full-time work for two (2) or more years since you left high school, you will need the following information from your parents:
- Social Insurance Number(s)
- Total Income(s) (from Line 150 of their 2010 income tax returns)
- expected lower income, if combined parental income is expected to be lower in 2011
- number of people in your family (including yourself)
- number of children attending post-secondary institutions in 2011-2012 (including yourself)

Spouse/Partner Information
If you are married/common law, you will need your spouse's/partner's:
- Social Insurance Number
- Total Income (from line 150 of their 2010 income tax return)
- employment status including
- monthly income before deductions, and
- income start and end dates (if applicable)
If your spouse/partner is attending full-time studies, you will need:
- the name of their educational institution
- their school start and end dates
School/Program Information
You will need the:
- name of the educational institution you are planning to attend
- name of the program and specialization (major) in which you will be enrolled
- session start and end dates of your program
- tuition amount
- mandatory fee amount
- books and supply costs (check with your school)
Income Information
You will need your:
- employment earnings for the four-month period immediately before you start your program
- monthly costs and monthly resources for your study period
