Full-time post-secondary application for student funding

Applying for student funding is easier than ever before! 

  • Apply online using the secure, web-based application - you may even see your results immediately.
  • If your circumstances exclude you from applying online, you can pick up an application package at your post-secondary institution or nearest Canada-Alberta Service Centre.
  • If you are not eligible to apply online or cannot access an application package, a PDF version of the application is available.  Use Quick Tips to help you complete your application correctly.  Before mailing to Students Finance, make sure you staple all of your supporting documents to your application.

Change of Circumstance Form for Post-Secondary Studies 

If the information on your application changes or if you are not satisfied with the results of your assessment, you may want to appeal your award by completing the Change of Circumstance (COC) form.  Your complete COC must be received by Students Finance at least 30 days before your study period end date.

  • For studies starting August 1, 2011 and later, use this COC form 

Schedule 1 - Parental Personal and Financial Information

Your parents/step-parent/sponsors must complete Schedule 1 if you are single and have been out of high school for four years or less.

Tip:  Do not submit Schedule 1 if you have been available for full-time work for two or more years since you left high school.

  • For studies starting August 1, 2011 or later, use this Schedule 1 

Schedule 2 - Spouse/Partner Information

If you are married or common law, your spouse/partner must complete Schedule 2.

  • For studies starting August 1, 2011 or later, use this Schedule 2 

Schedule 3 - Studying Outside of Canada / Concurrent Enrollment / Exchange-Field Study Programs

Complete Schedule 3 if you are:

  • an undergraduate student planning to attend a school outside of Canada and are applying for student funding for the first time in this program
  • concurrently enrolled at more than one post-secondary institution at the same time in order to be considered a full-time student for student funding purposes
  • in an exchange/field study program
    • For studies starting August 1, 2011 or later, use this Schedule 3 

Schedule 4 - Federal/Provincial Grant for Post-secondary Students with Permanent Disabilities 

If you are a student with a documented permanent disability  and you are attending a full-time post-secondary program, complete Schedule 4 as you may be eligible to receive more funding.

  • For studies starting August 1, 2011 or later, use this Schedule 4 

If you receive a Disability Grant for Services and Equipment, you may find the Reconciliation Worksheet  to be a useful tool when you submit your receipts to Students Finance at the end of your current academic year.

Missing Information Résumé 

If your student funding application was not complete, you may have received a Missing Information letter and résumé to complete.  If you lost the résumé or did not receive it, complete this form icon_pdf.gif and return it to Students Finance.

Missing Information Request for Marital Status Change 

If your student funding application was not complete, you may have received a Missing Information letter and Marital Status Change form to complete.  If you lost the Marital Status Change form or did not receive it, complete this form  and return it to Students Finance.

Power of Attorney for Alberta student funding 

You may want to assign Power of Attorney  to authorize someone else to have access to or to act on your behalf on matters concerning your Alberta student funding.  For example, you may want to assign Power of Attorney if you are studying out-of-country or out-of-province.  Power of Attorney remains in effect until you revoke (cancel) it.

Revocation of Power of Attorney for Alberta student funding 

The Revocation of Power of Attorney  form revokes (cancels) only the Government of Alberta Power of Attorney for Alberta student funding.

Consent to Disclose Personal Information to a Third Party

If you want to grant another person access to your student funding information, complete the Consent to Disclose Personal Information to a Third Party form  

For example, use this form if you are studying outside of Canada and you want Students Finance to disclose your financial information to a parent or another person.

Tip: If you want a third party to request action on your behalf, then you need to complete a Power of Attorney form.

Forms to keep your loans in interest-free status 

If you are not receiving new student loans but are continuing your studies in a designated program, you want to make sure your previous student loans stay in interest-free status.

  • Complete Schedule 2  if you only have a previous Canada student loan
  • Complete Form B  if you only have a previous Alberta student loan
  • Complete Form B if you have both previous Canada and Alberta student loans

Application for Interest-free Status for a Person on Parental Leave

If you take a break from full-time studies for parental leave, you may apply for interest-free status  on your Alberta student loans. 

Statutory Declaration for Interest-free Status for a Step Parent on Parental Leave

If you are a student who takes a break from full-time studies for parental leave as a step parent, and you apply for interest-free status on your Alberta student loans, you may have to complete a Statutory Declaration  and attach to your application.

Alberta Student Loans - Personal Pre-Authorized Payment Agreement

If you are entering or already in repayment of your Alberta student loan, you can authorize EDULINX to automatically debit your bank account each month to make your payments.  The pre-authorized payment  is the easiest way to make sure your payments are made on time, each month.

Alberta Student Loans - Personal Pre-Authorized Deposit Agreement  g_new.gif

You can authorize EDULINX to automatically deposit the proceeds from your Alberta student loan into your bank account.  Complete the deposit agreement and return to EDULINX.

Canada Student Loans - Repayment Assistance Application

If you are having trouble repaying your Canada student loan, you may be eligible for help under the federal Repayment Assistance Plan.  Enrolment in the plan is not automatic; you must complete a Repayment Assistance Application

Alberta Student Loan Relief Application

Alberta student loan relief is designed to help keep your student debt loads manageable. Find out if you are eligible.  icon_pdf.gif

Aviation Training Form 

If you are pursuing Fixed Wing or Helicopter Training at a private training school, complete the Aviation Training Form  and attach it to your application.

Part-time post-secondary application for student funding

The part-time application cannot be printed from ALIS.  Ask for an application:

There is no online student funding application for part-time studies.

Full-time post-secondary Applicant Declaration and Consent (for information purposes only)

If you applied for student funding, you are required to agree to the Applicant Declaration and Consent.

This is for your information only.  Do not mail to Students Finance.
