Creating Scholarship Funding for the Future
The Endowment Program for the Alberta Heritage Scholarship Fund accepts donations from individuals, groups or businesses to provide scholarships.
If you are interested in establishing a scholarship, please contact the Manager of the Alberta Heritage Scholarship Fund at 780-427-8640.
Donors may determine the kind of scholarship they would like to create. Scholarships may be designed to target:
- specific levels of study
- specific areas of study
- a definable group of students
Donations for an endowment are considered gifts to the Crown and are deductible for income tax purposes.
Contributions to the Endowment Program are invested with the Alberta Heritage Scholarship Fund endowment. Each donation is considered a purchase of units of the entire endowment fund. The value of these units is accounted for separately to ensure that each program is maintained according to the desires of the donor. Therefore, some programs operate with a limited life while others are self-sustaining. Some donors make annual contributions to build and eventually sustain their program.
Annual expenditures and returns on the investments are reported to the donors so they can monitor how their program is performing.
This Endowment Program was established in April 1995 with an amendment to the Alberta Heritage Scholarship Act.
