Where
to find money
Once you have
exhausted your personal savings to support your business (which
usually happens very quickly for a small entrepreneur), the next
place to look to is other private sources of money. The term " financing
from friends, family and fools" relates to the places where seed
financing often comes from. A general list of financing sources
is as follows:
Financing Sources
|
- Your
savings
- Prizes,
grants
|
A
|
- Friends
- Family,
relatives, other individuals
- Venture
capitalists
- Angel
investors
- Corporate
investors

B

- Government
funding
- Development
agencies
- Banks
|
C

- The
public (stock market)

D

Group A
from this list includes private sources of equity. When you put
your own money into your business, it is equity for your business,
because it is money in exchange for a share of the business. There
are often opportunities for new businesses to win money or seed
capital with their ideas through business plan competitions, or
obtain funding through receiving grants. This is all money that
comes without obligation to another party.
