Employer Events

Employer events give you the opportunity to meet employers face to face and find out about job opportunities.

• Job and career fairs bring many employers and job seekers together, usually in one large venue. Find out about job fairs being held across Alberta.
• Employer connections, held regularly at Canada-Alberta Service Centres or Alberta Service Centres, usually involve a single employer. Check out current Alberta Employer Connections events.
• Learn how to make a good impression when you attend these events.

• Visit the job fair website or look at other promotional material to find out which employers will be there. Gather as much information as possible about the employers so that you can ask appropriate questions and speak knowledgably… more

• Bring a notebook and pen, as well as printed copies of your resumé… more
• Introduce yourself and be able to describe your skills, interests and experience concisely… more
• If employers aren't hiring at this event, ask how to set up an informational interview.
• Be sure to follow up with the employers you meet. Send an e-mail, call or visit… more
• Even if they don’t lead directly to a job, events like these are good practise for networking.
