Alberta Career and Employment Information Services help Albertans explore the career, employment and training options available to them. Services offered by the Alberta government include:
- Short work-specific courses eliminate barriers to job searching and employment, teaching specific skills required for a job and leading to skill set credential recognized by industry.
- Workshops are group services designed to address a variety of career and employment needs, such as resume writing.
- Job placements connect individuals seeking work with employers looking to fill job openings.
- Employability and career counseling is an individual or group process that emphasizes self-awareness and understanding. Guided assistance and referrals help individuals clarify career goals, make career decisions and develop a life-work direction that is both satisfying and meaningful.
- Assessments to gather information, identify issues and clarify personal and environmental resources to assist with making informed career and employment decisions.
- Career and job fairs showcase a variety of career and employment options, employer options, industry information, post-secondary choices and labour market facilitation.
- Employment Connection Grants help facilitate employment-related events, such as job fairs, employer connections, conferences and speaking events.
- Alberta Supports Centres provide access to information, tools and technical equipment on topics such as career planning, education, job search and labour market information.
- Alis online resources provide online career planning, job search and labour market information.

The Employment Services Directory lists programs and services aimed at helping unemployed Albertans, including those with barriers to employment, find and keep jobs. Search for employment programs in your area to help you, free of charge, if you are looking for work.

Supports for persons with disabilities
Disability Related Employment Supports
Disability Related Employment Supports (DRES) funding is available to help Albertans overcome barriers to education or employment caused by a disability. Types of supports include job search supports, workplace supports and educational supports.
- Job search supports: Provides short-term supports and/or services to a person with a disability who is actively seeking employment. Supports may include a sign language interpreter so that an individual with a hearing impairment can attend a job interview.
- Workplace supports: Provides initial short-term supports and services to assist a person with a disability transition into the workplace; maintain employment (receiving at least minimum wage), and enable their full participation in the workplace. Supports may include a job coach, worksite modification or assistive technology.
- Educational supports: Assists an eligible student with a disability to participate in education and training. Supports may include sign language interpreters, tutors, note takers, and assistive technology such as software programs specific to the disability.

Internships for persons with disabilities
Internships are a great way to learn, grow and gain useful experience working in government. Seniors, Community and Social Services offers one-year internships in areas including finance, administrative support and research.

Employment and training supports are available for Albertans who are unemployed or marginally-employed and those on Employment Insurance (EI) and other income supports. This also includes programs targeted to under-represented groups including newcomers, women, Indigenous people and more.

Foundational learning assistance
The Foundational Learning Assistance program provides full-time and part-time opportunities for low income Albertans who are unemployed or working less than 20 hours per week to participate in programs of study that increase knowledge and develop skills to prepare them for further education, training, and/or sustainable employment.
