Junior Forest Rangers

Brett is a first year JFR Crew Member on the Fox Creek Crew!

Why did you apply to the JFR program?

I applied to the JFR program because I hope to become a firefighter. I thought the program would help me become a better person by learning new things and meeting new people.

What are you most excited about for the upcoming summer?

I am most excited to obtain my chainsaw and PAL licences. I am also excited to continue experiencing life on base as it is nice to be out of the city and in a different atmosphere.

What is your dream job?

My dream job is to become a structural firefighter in Calgary because I like their philosophies and want to help people.

What do you like most about your crewmates?

I like that everyone is fun to be around and that they show commitment and work ethic everyday.

What is one thing that you have learnt or completed through JFR that you never thought you would?

Learning to build a shelter out of trees, learning about the different types of berries and things that you can eat. I didn’t expect bushcraft to be so interesting.
