Tasks

  • Collaborate with members of an interdisciplinary health team
  • Coordinate patient care
  • Evaluate patient care and progress
  • Examine patients to assess general physical condition
  • Implement an interdisciplinary plan of care
  • Interpret medical test results
  • Order medical diagnostic or clinical tests
  • Participate in home care programs for chronic respiratory patients
  • Perform Holter/loop event scanning to produce an interpreted report for the physician
  • Perform diagnostic tests
  • Perform or assist with interventions such as airway maintenance, line insertions, inductions and intubations
  • Perform pacemaker checks
  • Plan patient care
  • Provide patient and family education
  • Train technicians, assistants, students or interns
  • Operate and monitor respiratory equipment to administer treatments
  • Ensure infection control
  • Monitor vital signs during cardiopulmonary surgery
  • Perform artificial respiration and external cardiac massage
  • Advise patients on health care
  • Examine patients and take their medical histories and consult with physicians and other medical practitioners to evaluate patients' physical and mental health
  • Order laboratory tests, X-rays and other diagnostic procedures
  • Conduct patient interviews, physical assessments and take medical histories
  • Perform and assist in routine surgery
  • Provide health maintenance education
  • Determine patients' blood characteristics
  • Monitor patients and advise physician of any changes in patients' condition
  • Prepare medications and administer inhaler and other treatments under supervision of cardiologist
  • Provide information and care for patients during tests
  • Assist with transport of high-risk patients
