Tasks

  • Measure and lay out work pieces in preparation for assembly
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts and tables
  • Fit and assemble components and machine parts to close tolerance
  • Maintain, repair and calibrate precision measuring instruments
  • Verify dimensions of parts machined using precise measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers)
  • Set up and operate conventional and computer controlled machine tools
  • Verify dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments
  • Operate and set up machines to perform repetitive machining operations
  • Inspect workplaces for safety or health hazards
  • Assist machine operators or assemblers in manufacturing process
  • Clean and maintain work space
  • Perform routine maintenance on equipment and machinery
  • Make adjustments necessary to ensure the smooth running of processes
