- Conduct feasibility studies in mining operation and evaluation
- Plan programs for data acquisition, analysis and mapping to assist in the development of civil engineering projects
- Plan programs for data acquisition, analysis and mapping to assist in the development of waste management projects
- Prepare recommendations and reports for the construction or improvement of civil engineering projects
- Conduct studies of groundwater flow and contamination
- Analyze reports and prepare recommendations on settlement of buildings, stability of slopes, and effects of earthquakes to support construction and civil engineering projects
- Supervise technicians, technologists and other engineers and review and approve designs, calculations and cost estimates
- Confer with clients and other members of the engineering team and conduct research to determine project requirements
