Tasks

  • Diagnose diseases and physiological disorders
  • Diagnose psychiatric disorders
  • Prescribe medication and treatment
  • Treat diseases and physiological disorders
  • Treat psychiatric disorders
  • Advise patients on health care
  • Prescribe and administer medications and treatments
  • Be the patient advocate
  • Participate in health care policy and planning
  • Consult with other medical practitioners to evaluate patients' physical and mental health

  • Licentiate of the Medical Council of Canada (LMCC)
  • Medical Council of Canada Qualifying Examination (MCCQE I and MCCQE II)
  • Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada Certification Examination
  • Licensure by provincial or territorial authorities
