This program is designed to help students to assist those with developmental, learning and /or physical disabilities or mental disorders. The programs are highly educative, incorporating the latest skills and knowledge that will allow the students to excel professionally.
In this program students learn Interpersonal Communication, Health Promotion, Abnormal Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Sociology, Team Work, Counselling techniques, Behavioural Management, Pharmacology and Human Sexuality. Students interested in pursuing a career as a Developmental Services Worker should be patient, understanding and have the ability to work under psychologically difficult circumstances. The core value of this program guides the Developmental Services Worker’s behaviour in terms of his/her ethical responsibilities to the individuals with developmental disabilities, their families, colleagues and to his/her own professional competence.
