Early Learning and Child Care Early Childhood Education

Northern Lakes College

Northern Lakes College

https://www.northernlakescollege.ca

Northern Lakes College is a community college serving over 1,500 students in northern rural communities. Administration campuses include Grouard and Slave Lake. With learning centres in over 17 communities, Northern Lakes College serves students in an area that covers a quarter of Alberta, but has less than four per cent of the population. Students may take academic upgrading, certificate and diploma programs, university transfer courses and workforce development courses. Many programs focus on health, the oil and gas industry and apprenticeship trades.

Northern Lakes strives to break down the barriers of location and educational experience by offering diverse programs. To reach students throughout the region, Northern Lakes uses distance learning methods, such as online technologies and videoconferencing. Partnerships with local First Nations and Métis settlements, businesses and industries allow Northern Lakes to offer new programs to meet community and industry needs.

The Grouard campus has a student residence, student family housing, cafeteria and gymnasium. The Slave Lake campus has a cafeteria, leisure and aquatic centre, gymnasium and a new student residence.
