Intro to Welding 1st Year

Northern Alberta Institute of Technology

Northern Alberta Institute of Technology

www.nait.ca
This program consists of blended delivery (online distance and classroom based hours) and is designed to introduce theory and practice of the first year of the welding trade. Welding 1st year theory will be done independently by students through online studies with the assistance of an on-line tutor. Practical shop hours will be held in the labs and cover 1st year welding. Welding practice on GMAW (gas metal arc welding), wire feed, metal core and oxy-acetylene cutting will be presented in a face-to-face format with an instructor during class hours.

Students who successfully complete theory and practical evaluations at NAIT will be able to challenge their 1st year Apprenticeship and Industry Training (AIT) exam.

This combination of online independent study and practice in the welding shop will enable students to get through the program quickly. To best suit this intense type of program delivery, students should be committed to learning the welding trade, self-motivated and manage time well.
