Bow Valley College
Kitchen and bath designers provide specialized services within the residential kitchen and bath design industry. The post-diploma certificate learners will further existing interior design and decorating or architectural technology training by building analytical, planning, and documenting skills specific to the kitchen and bath design industry, as well as the application of business practices and related product knowledge. Learners will refine their ability to analyze and respond to client needs, create functional design solutions, consider aesthetics, durability and environmental considerations, and work within the building code and kitchen and bath design standards. The course work includes producing technical and presentation documents, understanding residential construction practices, specifying materials and products, and using industry best practices to satisfy client wants and needs while achieving business objectives.

Admission Requirements
Academic Requirements:
  • Diploma or degree in interior decorating, interior design, architectural technology, or a related program by departmental approval
  • Education and work experience equivalencies will be considered on a case by case basis
Other Requirements:
  • Portfolio submission, which meets the criteria set by the department
  • Working knowledge of personal computers including general business applications and navigating the internet
  • Laptop computer meeting minimum specifications
  • Additional course-specific software may be required
English Language Proficiency Requirements:
In addition to academic requirements, applicants whose first language is not English must demonstrate one of the following:
  • IELTS score of 6 with minimum band score of 5.5
  • TOEFL score of 83
  • BVC Academic English 2 with a grade of “B-”
  • Canadian Language Benchmarks score of 8 in each strand
