Public, academic and special libraries, including government and law libraries, as well as school learning commons all need employees with technical and people skills to ensure the expanding volume of information in today's world remains accessible and useful.   This comprehensive program will make you proficient in every area of library operations. It covers information services, including database searching, library network technology, cataloguing and classification. You'll use this knowledge to develop the skills required to ensure you can assist and educate customers on how to get the information they need when they need it. You'll also learn about records management, storytelling, marketing and public relations, web design and more.

Admission Requirements

At least 60% in the following courses or equivalents:

  • English Language Arts 30-1 or English Language Arts 30-2 or equivalents, AND,
  • Two of the following Grade 12 subjects: Math, Science, Social Science, Accounting, Law or a second language.
  • LIBR-200 (Introduction to Libraries) may be substituted for one of the two Grade 12 subjects. This course is available through distance education.
  • All applicants must demonstrate English Language Proficiency prior to admission, including students educated in Canada.
