A graduate of the regulatory program will have a practical knowledge of the regulatory framework governing the Canadian oil and gas industry.  This program is designed to prepare students for work in the oil and gas industry pertaining to the interpretation and application of provincial oil and gas regulations in Canada.  This is a comprehensive program that begins with an overview of the origin and evolution of Canadian Confederation, the Canadian justice system, and the role of federal and provincial governments in regulating oil and gas industry activity.  The student will learn the process, data requirements and submission requirements to receive approvals and licenses for various routine oil and gas activities such as seismic exploration, lease construction and drilling.  The regular reporting required to maintain compliance with oil and gas regulations during the life cycle of a well are also discussed.  The graduate will be well-positioned to interpret and apply the regulations to manage corporate compliance and regulatory approvals.
