The Graduate Certificate in Information Security (GC InfoSec) is offered by Athabasca University's Faculty of Science and Technology. This certificate program is intended for students who are normally working in the IT sector and are seeking work specifically in the information security sector. Once the certificate is completed students will be qualified for positions in the following areas: Computer Security Specialist, Computer Specialist, Information Technology Specialist, Security Analyst, and System Analyst. The program is designed to attract individuals looking for a highly relevant and immediately applicable, short-term learning project. It is a comparatively low-cost and low-risk alternative for individuals who have been away from formal learning for some time, or who may lack confidence in their ability to succeed in graduate-level studies. The program also provides opportunity to ladder directly to the Master of Science with Specialization in Information systems (MSc IS) program.
