Admission Requirements

Eligible students are provided by high schools in the school districts.

Pre-Employment students must meet the Apprenticeship and Industry Training (AIT) standard admissions requirements including English 20-2, Math 20-3, Science 10. However, dual credit students are NOT required to be registered with AIT. Upon successful completion of all core courses, dual credit students are then eligible to write the 1st period electrical apprenticeship exam.

All other individuals who want to become an apprentice must meet the following academic requirements:

Route 1: Applicants must have completed Grade 9;

Route 2: Applicants must have received a passing mark on the Apprenticeship Level 2 entrance exam.

Applicants must also be hired as an Apprentice with an employer and have their apprenticeship number proving they are registered with Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training.


Application Deadline

Applicants qualified by Alberta Apprenticeship may apply no later than one business day before the course begins.


Student Aid

This program is eligible for full-time post-secondary assistance by Alberta Student Aid for the funding year 2023/08/01 to 2024/07/31*.

  • Mandatory Fees $1,125.00 Year One
  • Books/Supplies/Instruments $581.00 Year One

* Tuition, books, supplies, instruments, and other/mandatory fees are provided to Alberta Student Aid and may be used when processing full-time post-secondary funding applications. The educational costs provided are based on a 100% full-course load and may not reflect current or all educational costs charged by the school.
