Northwestern Polytechnic (formerly Grande Prairie Regional College) reflects the entrepreneurial energy of the region. Established as a college more than five decades ago, the institution received its polytechnic designation in 2021.

With campuses in Grande Prairie and Fairview, Northwestern Polytechnic serves students from across Alberta, Canada, and the world. Students pursue a wide variety of academic programs ranging from certificates and diplomas to degrees offered via the institution’s schools of business, skilled trades, health and education, and applied science and technology.

Northwestern Polytechnic’s ever-growing degree programs are currently offered in collaboration with other institutions. Students may complete degrees in nursing or education through the University of Alberta. Dual credit programming gives high school students the opportunity to complete college credits as early as Grade 11.

Renowned for its architecture and location adjacent to the expansive 13.7 km Muskoseepi Park trail network, the Grande Prairie campus provides a supportive environment for innovation, wellness, and success. The campus is home to a library with access to over 76,000 print items and more than five million items through consortia membership, a 500-seat concert hall, and athletic facilities serving competitive teams in basketball, cross-country, indoor track, soccer, and volleyball.

Located in the heart of Alberta's Peace Country, Northwestern Polytechnic's Fairview Campus is a vibrant hub for state-of-the-art career programs and specialty training. An on-campus fitness centre provides a fully equipped weight room, cardio room with exercise equipment, and racquetball/squash courts, plus a full-size indoor pool with waterslide and hot tub. Other on-campus amenities include a cafeteria, bookstore, computer labs, theatre, residence, bank machines, and a working farm.
