Keyano College serves over 2,200 full-time and part-time students in Fort McMurray and the surrounding area. Students enjoy cultural opportunities in Fort McMurray as well as outdoor activities in the boreal forest. Keyano students may study at several campuses. The main Clearwater campus in Fort McMurray offers certificate and diploma programs, university transfer courses, collaborative degrees and online courses. The heavy industrial training centre at the Suncor Energy Industrial campus is the base for industrial programs for the oil industry.

Certificate and diploma programs are offered in areas such as business administration, early learning and child care, environmental technology, health services and office administration. University transfer programs are available in arts and sciences. Collaborative degrees offered through transfer agreements with a degree-granting institution may be taken in elementary education, nursing, and business administration. Keyano's well-equipped facilities include a Sport and Wellness Centre, a student activities centre, a 600-seat theatre and an arts centre that features music and dance studios, practice rooms, a rehearsal hall, piano labs, and a 200-seat recital theatre.

Keyano serves students through its Clearwater Main Campus and Suncor Energy Industrial Centre in Fort McMurray, the Fort Chipewyan Campus, and the learning centres in Fort McKay and Gregoire Lake.

Admission Requirements

Academic Requirements

  • English 30-1 (minimum 65%)
  • Biology 30
  • Chemistry 30 or Science 30
  • One of Math 30-1, 30-2 or Math 31
  • Subject from Group A, B or C

Mature Students

Applicants over 21 years of age must present an overall average of at least 75% with no mark below 65% in English 30-1 and no mark below 60% in Chemistry 30 OR Science 30, and Biology 30.

For programs with an enrollment limit, such as the Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree, the College reserves the right to employ academic rating scales for admission purposes. Applicants will be sent an offer if their overall GPA, which can include both High School required courses as well as Post-Secondary educational credits, is at or above the annual competitive average Offers will be sent once a student had submitted all required documents and an GPA could be assessed. For applicants who meet requirements but do not meet the annual competitive GPA, their application will be placed in a competitive waitlist offers may be sent based on GPA and seat availability. Keyano College reserves the right to assess the competitive entry average for every intake as well as the competitive waitlist.

English Language Proficiency & Spoken Language Proficiency Requirements

Application Deadline

Applications will open from October 1 of the preceding year until the First day of Class of programs intake. Offers of admission for eligible applicants may continue based on available seats until the end of the first week of classes. Students will be required to register in the program on or before the end of the first week of classes.

This program is eligible for full-time post-secondary assistance by Alberta Student Aid for the funding year 2023/08/01 to 2024/07/31*.
