Keyano College

Keyano College
The Art & Design Certificate program is designed to meet the needs of students interested in the field of art and design. The courses in the program provide the students with visual art and design fundamentals required to undertake a more advanced credential. Students will create a portfolio of artwork necessary to apply to university and college art and design programs. The Art & Design Certificate fulfills the majority of the requirements for the first foundational year to Bachelor of art and design programs across Canada. The certificate transfers directly into second year of the Bachelor of Fine Arts and the Bachelor of Design at the Alberta College of Art and Design (ACAD) as set out in an Articulation Agreement between Keyano College and ACAD. Students interested in studying the field of art and design are given a foundation to a broad range of disciplines within the field of study. In preparation for transfer, students learn to apply fundamental art and design principles to project outcomes through creative problem solving, task management, presentation and communication skills. Students will demonstrate technical proficiency in skilled areas such as drawing, printmaking and fundamentals. Students will also demonstrate critical thinking and contextualized global awareness of art through the study of art history and English.
