Legislation

Under Alberta’s Occupational Health and Safety Code [pdf], workers who work with asbestos must be adequately trained to perform the work safely. An asbestos worker required to work in a restricted area must have successfully completed an asbestos training course approved by the Government of Alberta.

What You Need

Certification requires successful completion of a course approved by the Government of Alberta. For course guidelines and a list of agencies accredited to provide asbestos worker training and issue asbestos worker cards, see the Asbestos Worker Training page on the Government of Alberta website.

Working in Alberta

Asbestos workers who are certified by and in good standing with a regulatory organization elsewhere in Canada may challenge an exam in Alberta if certified asbestos workers in the two jurisdictions have similar responsibilities and competencies. For more information, see What if I am already certified in another province or territory in Canada? and the Government of Alberta website.

The certification information in this profile may change at any time and without notice. Before making any career decisions, we advise you to contact the regulatory organization or visit their website for the most updated information.
