Élise is one of eight fantastic crew members on the Calgary crew in 2022! Read on to learn about their summer so far.
Tell us a bit about yourself!
I’m a first year JFR crew member posted in the Calgary Forest Area. I’ve spent most of my life outside, and the outdoors have always been my happy place. I love camping, guitar, trail running, mountain biking, and most of all, Nickelback.
Why did you apply to the JFR program?
I applied for JFR both for the knowledge and for the experience. It was an opportunity for me to work outdoors, learn all sorts of incredible things and connect with coolest people. JFR also serves as a massive stepping stone in the direction I want my future to follow.
What are you most excited about for the upcoming summer?
I am most excited about talking to people! I can’t wait to meet all the interesting folks out here in the bush, and hear all their stories and advice. Already I can feel my perspectives widening as a result of all the different views and ways of living we’ve encountered. I’m stoked to make even more connections!
What is your dream job?
My dream job is one that will allow me to work outdoors with people, and one that can serve as a means of helping to protect the earth. I would love to work in the backcountry as a guide, sharing my passions and need for exploration with other like-minded people, as well as bringing attention to natural and social issues.
Please describe your JFR leaders with a pop culture/musical reference!
Zed would be SpongeBob, and Matt would be Squidward, but with better hair.
Thanks for sharing Élise!
