- Assess the current status of a given area for sustainable forest management
- Conduct forest inventory cruises, surveys and field measurement
- Conduct ongoing inspections to ensure the development of good quality forest crops
- Supervise technical functions in silvicultural operation

- Use photogrammetric and mapping techniques
- Monitor activities of logging companies and contractors
- Develop and maintain computer databases
