Admission Requirements
An Alberta or non-Alberta Grade 12 diploma, or the equivalent, with a passing mark in a Grade 12 English course is required. Proper supporting documents and transcripts must be provided with each application. Mature students may be accepted if they have at least 2 years of documented industry experience in such area(s) as audio engineering for any type of live music, stage or any audio production that involves spoken word, sound effects or that captures sounds in any environment. In addition, a grade of 50 credits towards a high school diploma, and a grade of 50% or better in any Grade 11 English course, or non-Alberta equivalent, is also required. Proper support documents and transcripts must accompany each application. Skill Prerequisites: This program prepares students to work with computers at a highly technical level. Students must be confident and competent with computers PRIOR to beginning this program. This program is taught in a very fast-paced learning environment and requires significant after-class study and preparation. Specifically, students must be able to: 1. Perform specific file tasks such as copying, deleting and moving audio files. 2. Demonstrate a basic understanding of PC and Macintosh hardware. 3. Demonstrate problem solving and creative skills. It is necessary that the student provide an audio portfolio (flexible in content and formalities) to demonstrate their creativity.
