Gain foundational knowledge in decolonization, Indigenous ways of knowing and anti-oppressive practice. Learn how to work with individuals, children and families, groups and communities in complex social settings through extensive hands-on experience with diverse populations. Graduates are eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers. Students choose from two concentrations: Generalist Social Work Take a general approach with courses in social work practice, theory, policy and research, all grounded within contemporary theoretical frameworks. Integrate theory, knowledge and skills to prepare for professional social work practice in a range of settings with diverse populations. Child Intervention Focus on the best and current practices in child intervention specific to assessment, planning, intervention, safety and resilience. Learn, integrate and practice the knowledge and skills necessary to successfully enter child intervention practice immediately following graduation.
