Northwestern Polytechnic's Business Administration Diploma - General program is recognized by many professional organizations. Graduates of this program will find abundant career opportunities in the public and private sector and have established successful careers as accountants, marketing managers, general managers, and entrepreneurs. Some diploma graduates have continued their education with professional organizations and universities to earn degrees and additional professional designations. Provincial Business Administration Pathways: Incoming transfer students might be eligible for the Provincial Business Administration Pathway if they have completed Business Administration coursework at Bow Valley College, SAIT, Keyano College, Lakeland College, Lethbridge College, MacEwan University, Medicine Hat College, NAIT, Norquest College, Northern Lakes College, Olds College, Portage College, Red Deer Polytechnic, or Athabasca University in the last five years. Please contact an Academic Advisor in the School of Business for more information.

Admission Requirements

If applicants are entering the Business Administration Program directly from high school, they require a High School Diploma with these Alberta Education courses or equivalents:

  • English 30-1 or 30-2, minimum grade 50%
  • Minimum 60% in Mathematics 20-1 or 20-2, or minimum 50% in Mathematics 30-1 or 30-2

If applicants do not have a high school diploma but have been out of school for at least one year, they require the following Alberta Education courses or equivalents:

  • English 30-1 or 30-2, minimum grade 50%
  • Minimum 60% in Mathematics 20-1 or 20-2, or minimum 50% in Mathematics 30-1 or 30-2

Students can complete the first year of the program online.


Student Aid

This program is eligible for full-time post-secondary assistance by Alberta Student Aid for the funding year 2024/08/01 to 2025/07/31*.
