Newman Theological College
www.newman.eduNewman Theological College is a Roman Catholic School of Theology committed to theological education and missionary discipleship. The College prepares laity, religious, and ordained ministers for Christian service and leadership in Western Canada and beyond. Founded in 1969 in the wake of the Second Vatican Council, NTC's vision is to develop life-long disciples and ministers of Christ through the formation of minds and hearts.
The College is an accredited member of the Association of Theological Schools in the United States and Canada (ATS).
Academic programs include the Bachelor of Arts in Catholic Studies, the Master of Divinity, the Master of Theological Studies, and the Master of Religious Education. In addition, the College offers internet courses through its Distance Education program.
At Newman Theological College, our mission as a private Roman Catholic college is to provide top quality theological education in an explicitly academic context. In doing so, we aim to form both the minds and hearts of those who will serve the Church. Our namesake, St. John Henry Newman is known for his motto: "Heart speaks unto heart." Following Newman's desire for spiritual edification within communal relationships, we strive to foster an educational environment that encourages our students to deepen their intellect alongside their faith.
As a result, our students experience a rich intellectual community of dedicated scholars who strive to further their understanding of the Catholic faith by remaining rooted in the Church's tradition while meaningfully engaging with contemporary questions.
