Hospice Palliative Care

Grant MacEwan University

Grant MacEwan University

www.macewan.ca
As our population continues to age, the demand for nurses qualified to work with both the elderly and the terminally ill will increase. MacEwan University's Hospice Palliative Care post-diploma certificate meets this demand as it combines the common skill sets necessary for practice in the area of hospice palliative care. Through innovative distance education strategies, this 18-credit program challenges nurses to apply their compassion, dedication, leadership and knowledge to end-of-life care populations. Evidence-based theoretical foundations guide students to best practices in palliative care and gerontological nursing. The program also prepares nurses to write the Canadian Nurses Association hospice palliative care certification examinations and contributes to the ongoing educational competency expectations of provincial associations.
