The Master of Data Science and Analytics (MDSA) is a course-based professional master's program. It will provide specialized, graduate-level training to students with a bachelor's degree in any field who wish to pivot their career, or advance in their current career. The MDSA program will be unique in Alberta, and will provide an opportunity for training in a field that is currently in demand.

Admission Requirements

In addition to the Faculty of Graduate Studies admission requirements, all applicants must meet the following requirements:

A four-year baccalaureate degree from a recognized institution; 

A minimum admission grade point average of 3.00 on a four-point scale or equivalent;

The successful completion of the following undergraduate courses:

  • one course in computer programming or computer science or equivalent;
  • one course in statistics or equivalent, and
  • one course in either calculus or linear algebra or equivalent.

Students who successfully complete the Graduate Diploma in Data Science and Analytics with a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher will meet the minimum admission requirements for the Master of Data Science and Analytics.


Student Aid

This program is eligible for full-time post-secondary assistance by Alberta Student Aid for the funding year 2021/08/01 to 2022/07/31*.

  • Mandatory Fees $1,932.00 Year One

* Tuition, books, supplies, instruments, and other/mandatory fees are provided to Alberta Student Aid and may be used when processing full-time post-secondary funding applications. The educational costs provided are based on a 100% full-course load and may not reflect current or all educational costs charged by the school.
