Red Deer Polytechnic
rdpolytech.caRed Deer Polytechnic has been a pivotal part of central Alberta for nearly six decades. Since our story began as Red Deer College in 1964, we have proudly served our learners and communities. Now, with our new designation as Red Deer Polytechnic, the institution continues to grow across its breadth of credentials, programs, and collaborative opportunities.
In the spring of 2021, the Government of Alberta granted our institution approval to change our name and designation to now serve students and our communities as Red Deer Polytechnic. As Red Deer Polytechnic, we continue to offer over 100 program options in a wide variety of subject areas, including apprenticeship, certificates, diplomas, university transfer, degree completion programs with partner universities, and its own applied and baccalaureate degrees, allowing students to remain at RDP for the duration of their program.
Applied learning and small class sizes, with a variety of student services and clubs, along with a historic RDC Athletics program of 24 national championships and 166 Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) team and individual titles, make Red Deer Polytechnic a great choice for students.
The Polytechnic has expanded its teaching, learning, athletic and living spaces with the additions of the state-of-the-art Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre/Centre des Jeux du Canada Gary W. Harris, Alternative Energy Lab and a new Residence which all enhance RDP’s Alternative Energy Initiative.
Applied research and innovation provide opportunities where our students and faculty collaborate with businesses and entrepreneurs to find solutions to real-world problems. Many of our applied research projects and facilities help to advance something we all care deeply about, ensuring we contribute to a sustainable future for the College, for central Alberta and beyond.
Our core business, teaching and learning, is at the heart of our institution's mandate, vision, mission, and values. Our people – students, instructors, staff, and community members – are who make Red Deer Polytechnic such a vibrant and welcoming post-secondary institution.
Red Deer Polytechnic's main campus is strategically situated on 290 acres of Alberta’s natural landscape along Queen Elizabeth II Highway. We welcome you to study with us. We also welcome you to join us as a vibrant gathering place in our community. With two campuses and impressive facilities, Red Deer Polytechnic is an ideal place to learn, work, conduct research and enjoy events.
