CUE is a university of action and passion, small enough that every student is essential but large enough to make real differences when we tackle global challenges. We are a students’ university. We offer more than 50 post secondary program majors and minors in the fields of Arts, Science, Education, and Management. We also offer two after-degree programs, three masters degrees, a doctoral program, graduate and undergraduate certificates and diplomas, and continuing education programs. Our ultimate goal has not changed since 1921: to be more than students and professors, to create a community of active citizens, to inspire good and honourable people who have found a university where they belong.

Open Studies is a great way for you to fit university studies into your life. Take courses for professional development, to explore an interest or to apply credits towards a future degree.
Open Studies allows students to register in undergraduate university-level courses without first being admitted to a degree program. To be considered for the Open Studies program, applicants must demonstrate:
Official documents and transcripts are normally required only to demonstrate the fulfilment of these criteria. However, the Admissions and Registrar’s Offices may request other documentation for admission and registration purposes.
Students who have been required to withdraw from a post-secondary institution in the past 12 months are not eligible for admission to Open Studies. Students who have been required to withdraw more than once may be considered only through an appeal.
Registration information for Open Studies students is indicated in section 4.1.3.
Open Studies applications are assessed on an ongoing basis. All application files must be complete at least two weeks before the start of each session.
This program is eligible for full-time post-secondary assistance by Alberta Student Aid for the funding year 2023/08/01 to 2024/07/31*.
* Tuition, books, supplies, instruments, and other/mandatory fees are provided to Alberta Student Aid and may be used when processing full-time post-secondary funding applications. The educational costs provided are based on a 100% full-course load and may not reflect current or all educational costs charged by the school.
