Academic Requirements: Valid 5th Class Power Engineering Certificate of Competency or credit in Math 10C or equivalent and credit in English 20-2 or equivalent. Applicants without the necessary academic requirements will be considered if they satisfactorily complete a Skills Appraisal Assessment.
Northern Lakes College offers Power Engineering specializations 3rd, 4th and 5th Class as an online learning program supported by recorded lectures, online quizzes and exams with tutorial sessions as required delivered through internet conferencing. The students will study from their selected location and at their own preferred time of day but with specific deadlines to meet. An industrial tour in the Slave Lake / High Prairie region and a one-day lab session at SAIT or NAIT are included in, and funded by, the program. Access to a high speed internet connected computer with speakers or headset and microphone is required. If you opt to register as a full time student you will have 8 months to complete the program. Those who register as part time students have up to 12 months to complete.

This program is eligible for full-time post-secondary assistance by Alberta Student Aid for the funding year 2023/08/01 to 2024/07/31*.
