The Registered Nurse Pathway to Canadian Practice is designed to support internationally educated nurses (IENs) and inactive or returning nurses in meeting requirements to practice in Canada. This comprehensive program provides the theoretical knowledge, skills and professional competencies necessary to ensure safe and effective nursing practice. This program empowers nurses with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to excel in their professional careers while ensuring high-quality patient care in Canada's healthcare system.

Admission Requirements

Applicants must present one of the following:

  • Official transcript showing completion of a 3-year or 4-year baccalaureate degree in nursing; OR
  • Proof of active or former Registered Nursing license/registration in Canada; OR
  • Official NCLEX certification; OR
  • Official CRNA assessment outlining education, assessment, and language requirements
English Language Proficiency

In addition to academic requirements, applicants whose first language is NOT English must demonstrate ONE of the following:

  • IELTS Academic: Listening 7.0, Reading 6.5, Speaking 7.0, Writing 6.5; OR
  • CELBAN: Listening 9, Reading 8, Speaking 8, Writing 7; OR
  • Occupational English Test (OET): with a minimum band score of listening B, reading C+, speaking B, and writing C+.
