Tell us a bit about yourself!
Hi, my name is Izzy and I’m from Edmonton! I recently picked up whittling and leather working as hobbies, and I love learning. I also just got a new puppy named Yeti!
How has your experience been so far with JFR?
In two words: absolutely fantastic. Applying was one of the best decisions I have made so far, and I cannot emphasise that enough. It's been a great opportunity to develop my interpersonal and leadership skills while immersing myself in our environment and exploring new perspectives. Not to mention that it's unbelievably fun. I’ve gained so many new skills, and so much knowledge throughout my time here, and I would recommend this program to everyone.
What brings you joy?
For starters, I love hiking, camping, and just generally being outdoors. Throughout my time in JFR, I’ve also grown attached to our PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), especially the safety glasses—my newest source of joy—and you'll often catch me wearing them in photos. I'm also a sucker for jokes.
Describe what JFR means to you in 5 words or less!
Life changing!
What has been your favourite project or activity you've done with JFR so far?
So far, we've gotten to try and learn a number of new things! One of my favourites would have to be working on The Great Divide Trail to create a new trail. Though the work was grueling, it was also incredibly rewarding. We got to work alongside wonderful people, making a difference while surrounded by amazing scenery. As an honorable mention, throughout my time at JFR, I’ve also enjoyed partaking in assembly lines to maximize efficiency.
