Tasks

  • Check, clean and lubricate waterworks equipment
  • Keep record of work performed and location and condition of equipment
  • Adjust and repair waterworks equipment under the direction of qualified tradesperson
  • Read blueprint, schemas and drawings
  • Check, lubricate, refuel and clean equipment
  • Operate various vehicles and equipment
  • Report any malfunctions to supervisor
  • Search, locate and repair reported water leaks
  • Install water meters
  • Check and lubricate gas pipeline valves
  • Conduct routine survey of gas mains and distribution lines
  • Investigate reports of gas leaks
  • Provide information on underground gas distribution lines
  • Observe excavation work to ensure that underground facilities are protected
  • Dig ground to expose gas lines and repair damaged pipes
