This certificate is for those who wish to become educated in business bookkeeping. A bookkeeper is responsible for the financial transactions that occur daily in a business, including: verification of source documents; billings to/payments from customers; invoices from/payments to suppliers; processing employees’ payroll; remittances to governing bodies; account reconciliations; generating financial reports; and other tasks involved in running a company. It requires the knowledge of debits and credits, an understanding of financial accounting, and an organized, detail-oriented individual who can keep accurate, up-to-date records which are vital to the well-being of any business.

The application of the material in this certificate program will play a vital role in students gaining knowledge in the theory behind computerized accounting software. The program begins with an introduction to bookkeeping by studying one company’s financial activities, and concludes in Level IV with a project involving the same company.

The curriculum is delivered by an instructor and training manuals are provided in each of the core courses.
