Bachelor of Interior Design Interior Design

Mount Royal University

Mount Royal University

www.mtroyal.ca
The proposed new Bachelor of Interior Design (BID) program is intended to replace the existing Bachelor of Applied Interior Design program (BAID) at Mount Royal University (MRU). The purpose of the new BID program is to expand the current curriculum to meet accreditation requirements, industry needs and to align with the standardized MRU course credit accounting (ie. 3 credits per course). Interior design is a dynamic and rewarding profession. It involves the analysis of clients' needs, goals and life safety issues to create interior design solutions that are functional, soundly constructed and aesthetically unified. This requires strong skills in three-dimentional visualization, space planning, construction detailing, visual communication and understanding of interior design business practices. Interior designers must also be well- versed in building codes and building systems, historical precendents in art and design and social issues that impact the well-being of humans and the environment.
