The BSc major in Applied Mathematics offers students the opportunity to obtain a degree in mathematics without on-campus attendance requirements. The focus and philosophy of the program is the fostering of innovative thinking towards the solutions of scientific, environmental, and even sociological issues using mathematical methods, as well as to provide a deeper understanding and alternative perspectives of problems in mathematics-related interdisciplinary fields.

Admission Requirements
As an open university, Athabasca University will accept application to become a student from any individual who is 16 years of age or older regardless of previous academic experience. 

Distance Delivery Options

Courses are designed for self-study at home, in the workplace or wherever a student chooses to work. Course materials and resources are provided online or in print form. Students interact with their professors, tutors, classmates (in grouped study courses) and student services providers through computer-mediated communication or by telephone.
