Students can complete one year of course work which prepares them for application for admission to year two Bachelor of Science in Engineering. With a concentration in Engineering, students will find careers in aerospace, agricultural, chemical, civil, computer, electrical, environmental, geological, industrial, materials, mechanical, metallurgical, mining, municipal, nuclear, or petroleum engineering, or engineering physics. Students wishing to begin their science program at Northwestern Polytechnic with plans to transfer to an institution other than the University of Alberta are encouraged to consult with an Engineering Faculty Advisor who can assist them with the interpretation of university requirements.

Admission Requirements
English 30-1, Math 30-1 (or equivalent), Math 31, Chemistry 30, Physics 30 required. After completion of year one (qualifying year), students apply to year 2 in a declared Engineering major at the University of Alberta or the University of Calgary.
