- Be 20 years of age or older as of September 1 of the current school year.
- Be a Canadian citizen or lawfully admitted to Canada for permanent or temporary residence. Students must provide proof of citizenship (i.e., birth certificate, landed immigrant paperwork, or resident documentation).
- Be a resident of Alberta. Alberta Education requires students 18 years of age or older to remain in the province at least until September 30 of the school year. Although a student may be residing elsewhere temporarily, they must maintain an Alberta address and submit proof of residency upon request.
