This program is designed to prepare graduates for work in the commercial greenhouse industry. Combining independent coursework and work-integrated learning components, students will learn about principles and practices related to commercial greenhouse operations. A variety of topics will be studied, including greenhouse infrastructure and operational knowledge, plant physiology and biology, plant growth, pest management, and harvesting techniques. Lastly, within this environment, leadership and managerial strategies and skills will be explored to prepare graduates for an exciting career in commercial greenhouse production.

Admission Requirements

General Admission Requirements:  All applicants must meet the general admission requirements for Lethbridge College programs, as indicated in the Admissions section of the calendar. 

Applicants to this program do not require a high school diploma, however, they must satisfy the following specific program requirements or equivalencies: Grade 10 English and Grade 10 Math. 

Non-Academic Admission Requirements:  Students must have an internship placement at the time of enrollment. A valid driver's license is recommended.


Distance Delivery Options

Courses may be offered in a variety of formats. The format in which a course is offered may change at short notice, depending on enrolment and student needs. The current delivery formats include: online (the course is delivered entirely in an online environment); face-to-face (you will attend class at a scheduled time and location. An instructor will be physically present to assist you); blended (the course is delivered through a mixture of face-to-face and online).


Application Deadline

Students will be recommended by Greenhouse Industry Partners as new workers showing a desire to increase training and knowledge in the greenhouse industry. Cohorts of 12 (minimum) will be batched and begin training based on industry calendar and demand.
