General Studies provides learners with a broadly based liberal arts foundation in a supportive, personalized environment with enthusiastic, quali?ed instructors. Let us help you develop your interests and skills across a wide variety of topics within the Humanities, Sciences, Social Sciences, English and Physical Education. By developing analytical and communication skills, citizenship virtues, and a scienti?c understanding of society, General Studies' graduates are well positioned for success in employment and for lifelong learning. Students can pursue either a General Studies diploma, choosing from a more eclectic mix of courses to complete their diploma, or a General Studies diploma in one of two majors:  English  Psychology and Sociology General Studies is designed to provide learners with vocational clarity and will prepare you for a career, transfer to another college or university program, or other learning opportunities. Our applied research and Service Learning options provide you with the opportunity to gain valuable work-based experience that will enhance your skills and resume. General Studies offers a solid foundation for learning for life. Admission Requirements

General Admission Requirements: All applicants must meet the general admission requirements for Lethbridge College programs, as indicated in the Admissions section of the calendar.

Note: Applicants who lack the required academic admission requirements can apply to the College and University Preparatory Program to upgrade for your program.

Prior Learning Assessment (PLA): If you have experience working in this field of study, you may be eligible for Prior Learning Assessment.

Application Deadline

Students are accepted into the General Studies program for the Fall (September), Winter (January) or Spring (May) terms.


Student Aid

This program is eligible for full-time post-secondary assistance by Alberta Student Aid for the funding year 2020/08/01 to 2021/07/31*.

  • Books/Supplies/Instruments $1,150.00 Year One
  • Mandatory Fees $959.00 Year One

* Tuition, books, supplies, instruments, and other/mandatory fees are provided to Alberta Student Aid and may be used when processing full-time post-secondary funding applications. The educational costs provided are based on a 100% full-course load and may not reflect current or all educational costs charged by the school.
