The Hairstyling Certificate Program will provide students 1400 hours of theory, lab and clinical instruction and practice. The curriculum is based on Apprenticeship and Industry Training's (AITs) 'Hairstylist Apprenticeship Course Outline', covering 10 months of study. Students successfully completing the program will be ready to enter the 1400 hours work period (apprenticeship) to become journeyperson hairstylists. The Lloydminster campus has a hairstyling lab and clinic so students can complete all parts of the program on campus. Hairstylist programs in Alberta are primarily offered by private providers in larger centers (for example - Edmonton, Calgary, Red Deer). Lakeland College can provide a 'college student experience' where students can choose to live in residence, take part in student activities and enjoy the supports offered at Lakeland College through the Learning Commons on the Lloydminster campus.
