Are you able to look at a space and visualize its potential? Do you enjoy designing and seeing a project through from start to finish? If so, the Interior Design Technology program might be right for you. The two- year program, offered both through fully online and in-person delivery methods, is structured around the professional standards of the Council for Interior Design Accreditation. In the classroom, our experienced instructors will stimulate your imagination while showing you how to develop creative yet practical solutions to create healthy, productive and exciting living and working environments. With our hands-on approach to training, you'll use laptops loaded with industry-standard software, put classroom theory into practice during group projects and gain valuable experience working on real-world design projects.

Admission Requirements

General Admission Requirements: All applicants must meet the general admission requirements for Lethbridge College programs, as indicated in the Admissions section of the calendar.

Academic Requirements: In addition to meeting the general admission requirements indicated in the Admission section of the calendar, applicants to this program must also satisfy the following specific course requirements (or equivalencies):  Grade 12 math (equivalent to Alberta’s Math 30-2 or a higher level math).

Practicum Experience Requirements: There is a required practicum component to this program. The College dictates the legal terms and conditions governing the practicum experience. 

Note: Applicants who lack the required academic admission requirements can apply to the College and University Preparatory Program to upgrade for your program.

Prior Learning Assessment (PLA): If you have experience working in this field of study, you may be eligible for Prior Learning Assessment.

Your Investment: A drafting kit deposit is required and is refundable upon return of the kit. A list of necessary art supplies will be provided at the beginning of the term.

Mobile Learning Program: This is a Mobile Learning Program and requires students to supply their own device with required minimum specifications. Go to our website for additional information.


Distance Delivery Options

One course is available online, as identified in the calendar by (OL) after the course title.


Application Deadline

New students are accepted into the Interior Design Technology program for the Fall (September) term.


Student Aid

This program is eligible for full-time post-secondary assistance by Alberta Student Aid for the funding year 2023/08/01 to 2024/07/31*.

  • Mandatory Fees $1,293.00 Year One
