A career in health care is just a few months away in our Medical Office Assistant and Unit Clerk program. Our intensive certificate program is designed to give you a practical introduction to health-care administration and a first-hand experience performing reception and administrative duties to keep health-care facilities and medical offices running efficiently. In the classroom, you'll learn everything from medical terminology to health-care records management. At the end of your studies, you'll complete a work-integrated learning experience acquiring vital hands-on skills. After just six months, you'll have the knowledge and confidence to be essential to the flow of information in health-care facilities.

Admission Requirements

General Admission Requirements: All applicants must meet the general admission requirements for Lethbridge Polytechnic programs, as indicated in the Admissions section of the calendar.

Academic Requirements: It is strongly recommended that applicants possess the ability to type at a minimum of 30 words per minute.


Application Deadline

New applicants are accepted into the Medical Office Assistant and Unit Clerk program for the Fall (September) term. See Registrar's Office Important Dates and Deadlines to find important dates for the term you’re applying for or the current semester.


Student Aid

This program is eligible for full-time post-secondary assistance by Alberta Student Aid for the funding year 2026/08/01 to 2027/07/31*.
