Admission Requirements
Mature Admission: 1, 19 years of age or older 2. Out of high school for one year 3. Meet English Proficiency requirements (below) 4. Must complete an academic achievement test (CAT- grade 11-12 proficiency) OR School Leaver Admission: 1. Alberta high school Diploma, verified through transcript, or non-Alberta equivalent 2. At least 60% in the following courses or their equivalents: 3. English Language Arts 30-1 or English Language Arts 30-2 4. Academic Ranking All Candidates Admission: 1. Police Information Check, inclusive of Vulnerable Sector Search. According to the Protection for Persons in Care Act, our clinical partners require a clear Police Information Check (PIC) including Vulnerable Sector Search (VSS). Any criminal code offence for which a pardon has not been reviewed may be a deterrent to a student's entry into practicum or even the program. In cases where a PIC or VSS in not clear, the College Dean, will conduct a formal assessment to determine whether the student would be permitted to enter the program. 2. Basic life support: Student are required to provide a proof of completion of the Heart and Stroke Basic Life Support Provider course. Students need to maintain current BLS certification throughout the practicum. 3. Immunizations: students are required to provide proof of immunization status. Without complete and acceptable immunization status practicum sites may refuse to accept students on practicums, which could prevent successful completion of the program. English Proficiency Requirements: Canadian Language Benchmarks/Milestones Test: 7 in each strand IELTS Academic: 5.5 with minimum band score of 5.0 TOEFL: 71 IQAS- Formal Assessment: Alberta Education English Language Arts equivalent Alberta Education High School English Course: 60% in ELA 10-1 or ELA 10-2 Test and transcript results are valid for 2 years from the day of testing or completion of a course. Results that expire prior to the start date of the program may not be accepted. Official results must be submitted. Selection Requirements for all candidates successfully meeting admissions: 1. Interview to assess suitability for the program and keyboarding assessment 2 Attendance to college program orientation
