Create your own success story with the one-year Virtual and Augmented Reality program, learning skills you can apply in any sector that values design and the creation of immersive environments. With a balance of technical and entrepreneurial skill-building, the Virtual Reality program focuses on four areas of study: production fundamentals, experiential design, spatial media, and industry application. Our Virtual and Augmented Reality Certificate is offered both through fully online and in-person delivery methods. In this one-year program, you'll enhance your technical expertise and convert your imaginative ideas into exciting and relevant virtual and augmented reality (VR/AR) content. You'll learn the fundamentals of extended reality design and be exposed to the latest tools including 3D asset creation, spatial media production, sound design, real-time game engines and coding.

Admission Requirements

General Admission Requirements: All applicants must meet the general admission requirements for Lethbridge College programs, as indicated in the Admissions section of the calendar.

Practicum Experience Requirements: There is a required practicum component to this program. The College dictates the legal terms and conditions governing the practicum experience.

Note: Applicants who lack the required academic admission requirements can apply to the Academic Upgrading program.

Prior Learning Assessment (PLA): If you have experience working in this field of study, you may be eligible for Prior Learning Assessment.

Other Required Supplies: Students will be required to purchase the following:

  • a Head Mounted Display (HMD); students should check with instructors for specific HMD requirements
  • an external USB 0 SSD hard disk drive
  • a gaming PC

Admissions: New students are accepted into the Virtual and Augmented Reality certificate program for the Fall (September) term.

This program is eligible for full-time post-secondary assistance by Alberta Student Aid for the funding year 2023/08/01 to 2024/07/31*.

  • Mandatory Fees $1,299.00 Year One

The educational costs provided are based on a 100% full-course load and may not reflect current or all educational costs charged by the school.
